Present Simple или Present Continuous, разница

Оба времени Present Simple и Present Continuous связаны с настоящим. Но present simple описывает его в целом, не касаясь конкретного момента речи. А present continuous помогает сказать о том, что происходит сейчас, в текущий момент.

Present continuous (I am doing)Действие происходит в момент речи.Действие не закончено.

The water is boiling. Can you turn it off?
Listen to them. What language are they speaking?
I’m going to bed now. Goodnight!
Maria is in Britain now. She’s learning English.

Используйте continuous для временной ситуации, которая сейчас происходит (и не закончилась)

I’m living with some friends until I find a flat.
“You’re working hard today.” “Yes, I’ve got a lot to do.”

Present simple (I do)Обычные повторяющиеся действие,общеизвестные факты и истины.

Water boils at 100 degrees celsius.
Excuse me, do you speak English?
I always go to bed before midnight.
Most people learn to swim when they are children.

Используйте simple для описания того, что происходит постоянно.

My parents live in London. They have lived there all their lives.
John isn’t lazy. He works very hard most of the time.
