If you know a thing or two about the history of video games, you’ll know that the first role of Mario in a video game wasn’t on the Mushroom Kingdom. In fact, he wasn’t even Mario the first time we saw it, because his name was just “Jump-Man”. This is the history of Donkey Kong, but today we’re talking about a different version of this title called Champ Kong.Champ Kong contains many things from the original arcade game, but with a few variations to make it more interesting. For example, we have the new Champ Mode that offers a new and different playability for all the lovers of this vintage game, but the main essentials are still here.Although the name of the game is Champ Kong, the hero is Mario AKA Jump-man and your mission is to rescue your girlfriend Pauline from that wicked gorilla. Every level consists of different platforms in different layouts that you have to climb, but you have to be careful because Champ Kong is not going to let you do that.Use the arrow keys to move from one side to the other and to go up and down from stairs, since this will help you reach Pauline and dodge the barrels and enemies. Even though these are great weapons, you can use actual weapons, like a hammer, to destroy the barrels. If you need it, you can also use the control button to jump and avoid the dangers.Champ Kong is a more than decent experience that let us play one of the most beloved games in history in the DOS system. The graphics, music and SFX are just on point, since most of them are straight from the arcade and we totally loved it.
